Welcome to Speedy Stop!

Headquartered in Victoria, Texas, C.L. Thomas, Inc. was founded in 1980 by the owner, Clifton L. "Cliff” Thomas, Jr. Mr. Thomas had been living in Texarkana, Arkansas and working as a high school football coach. In 1977, after four years of coaching, Cliff embarked on his true calling. He took a job as a General Manager for an Exxon distributorship in nearby Hope, Arkansas. Three years later he learned of another Exxon distributorship for sale in Port Lavaca, Texas. Mr. Thomas purchased that distributorship in December of 1980 and the Company was formed, with Mr. Thomas as the Company's sole dispatcher, truck driver and salesman.

In 1983, as the company began to grow, a second distributorship was purchased in Victoria, Texas. It was then that the doors first opened for Speedy Stop Food Stores. In a short time, the company added a handful of additional locations throughout the Coastal Bend area of Texas. After a period of sustained growth, Speedy Stop continued to expand the chain. In 1996, their first Subway was opened in Victoria, TX. C.L Thomas, Inc. today owns and operates 6 Subway franchises in 5 cities.

The Company has grown materially since then, both organically and through acquisitions. Over the years, C.L. Thomas, Inc. has earned the distinct recognition of being in the Nation's Top 5 distributors for Exxon Gasoline and Chevron Lubricants, as well as earning the #1 ranking on numerous occasions.
